Boundary Walls & Retaining Walls

Existing boundary and retaining walls require maintenance or rebuilding as over the years these types of walls have an urge to collapse due to tree growth, damp conditions and road vibration.

Stonework Solutions are able to provide maintenance to boundary and retaining walls, which involve, re-pointing using lime, stone indenting and replacing coping stones. When the existing boundary or retaining walls are in too poor condition Stonework Solutions will advise down taking and rebuilding of the walls. This will bring them back to the original appearance as they were first constructed.

Excavating slopes and building new retaining walls create more space at your property. This form of construction is becoming increasingly popular.

Stonework Solutions experienced stonemasons are able to provide a detailed design and construction service of all types of boundary and retaining walls to match your property.

Drystone Walling

Drystone Walling is a method of building to produce permanent natural stonework without the use of mortar. Natural stonework requires little maintenance and may last for centuries, all the time improving with age. These beautiful structures have a wonderful character and add a much sought-after traditional feel wherever they appear.

Stone Cladding

Stone cladding has become increasingly popular as it offers more possibilities than traditional stonework due to lower weight and less space requirements. It is suitable for interior or exterior use. Stonework Solutions are able to construct random rubble, ashlar, slate and many other forms of stone cladding to look like an original, contemporary stone building or wall.

Stone Cladding is one of the more cost effective solution to provide stone detail for new build projects or to improve the appearance of existing buildings.

Gabion Walls

Gabion walls are a type of retaining wall made of stacked stone-filled gabions tied together with wire. Stonework Solutions commonly uses gabions throughout civil engineering projects to stabilize shorelines, streambanks or slopes from erosion. There are many other uses for gabions such as to direct the force of flow of flood water around a vulnerable structure, dams, river training and fish barriers in small streams.

Gabion walls have more advantages than rigid structures as they are able to harmonize with ground movement, dispersing energy from flowing water and drain freely.
